C.1930's, 18PC. MADEIRA ORGANDY,LINEN PLACEMAT SET"ROMANTIC SERIES"IMPERIAL LINENS. A rare set ! Designed and made during the 1930's by Herman Klein for the company Imperial Linens and part of the "Romantic Series". The placemats are made with very fine organdy and linen with hand made Applique work. There are musicians, courting couples at the center and lovely fine Applique scrollwork around the edge. There are 18 placemats and 18 napkins. There are four different designs for the placemats,five of the placemats with musicians, five other matching placemats, another five and then three matching placemats. The placemats measure approx.19 1/2" by 13 1//2". The napkins measure 17". In very good strong condition, a few tiny pin dot and one light stain, very minor . The napkins , some seemed to have been used but many were not.They would benefit from a gentle wash. A lovely set to use or for the linen collector.
