CIRCA 1880-1900, LUMINOUS CREAM SILK CANTON SHAWL W/ROSES

CIRCA 1880-1900, LUMINOUS CREAM SILK CANTON SHAWL W/ROSES. A wonderful luminous cream Canton hand membroidered shawl with a double Macrame fringe measuring approx. 65" with an additional 15-16" for the double fringe edging. This is one of the better Canton shawls that became popular during the 1900's. The shawl has a good weight and the hand embroidery is exceptional and whole shawl is almost entirely covered with large heirloom cabbage roses, florals , and lovely elongated branches and leaves. The quality of embroidery is exceptional! The cream silk has the most beautiful sheen and as said has such a luminous quality to it. In very good strong condition, a couple of minor spots that have no significance. This shawl might well have been unused or used very rarely. It is in great condition.
