CIRCA 1820-1830's, LOVELY FINE WHITEWORK EMBROIDERDERED MUSLIN

CIRCA 1820-1830's,LOVELY FINE WHITEWORK EMBROIDERED MUSLIN PANEL. The design is quite superb on this offering but even more superb is the excellent whitework embroidery. It is absolutely perfect in it's execution and was certainly made by a master embroiderer. All I can say is how fortunate "Carolina"was to have this item made for her!and one can only imagine how refined the lady's bedroom was I think it is a sham cover. Items like this would only have been made to lay over a pillow.. certainly not to sleep on.There is a central oval medallion composed of stylized flowers , leaves and a diamond motif enclosing flower-heads above the initials. The four corners have flower sprays and the scalloped buttonholed edges have  tiny florets and sprigs. I can assure you that as good as the pictures look..in person one would be amazed at the embroiderer's skill. Measuring 28" by 28".In very good strong condition.

RARE 19THC. HANKERCHIEF W/WHITEWORK EMBROIDERY,RACING HORSES

RARE 19THC. WHITEWORK HANDKERCHIEF W/WHITEWORK EMBROIDERY,RACING HORSES. Rare and Beautiful. Circa early 1800's.The design has saddled racing horses in each corner with paired flags and an inner border with meandering floral designs with intricate fillings and floral sprigs in each corner. There is Drawn an Pulled work and a hand made Bobbin lace edging around the handkerchief. Measuring approx. 23".  There are a couple of tiny spots and a couple of tiny openings that are totally minor as the handkerchief is in very good strong condition. A rare theme, a beautiful design and absolutely superb workmanship on this wonderful handkerchief.

CIRCA 1860, EXQUISITE WHITEWORK CAPELET WITH BIRDS AND FLOWERS

CIRCA 1860, EXQUISITE WHITEWORK CAPELET W/BIRDS AND FLOWERS. This is truly one of the most beautiful pieces I have come across! In 45 years of selling I have never seen a piece similar to this beauty! The design and workmanship take the word "perfection" and make it their very own. There is satin stitch embroidery on the capelet and also the collar  has French knots, Drawnwork and Chainstitch.There are meandering vines,  floral and leaves also in the design and the  scalloped edges have buttonhole stitch on the edges.The two large birds at the front are magnificent not only in the workmanship but also in the design. There are two other birds in the design. and other florals in the cape collar. These lawn collars rarely survived well..but this was certainly cherished and kept very well .There are a few repairs near the top, mainly hidden by the collar and a few rinyscattered openings that I consider minor.The repairs were done in their time, by someone who was very adept.. lace collectors would understand that even working on lawn would take immense skill and these were done so well that at first I did not even notice them. To me, the collar is perfect!  Even the imperfections are perfect!! In good strong condition.

SUPERB FIGURAL APPENZELL  EMBROIDERED LINEN REFECTORY TABLE RUNNER. Circa 1900,the finest linen has been used on this beautiful refectory table runner.The very best in Appenzell embroidery with five ovals with ladies in ornate period dress in an pastoral landscape.The table runner measures approx.140" by 12" wide. There is not only the elaborate oval vignettes which are wonderful but there is fine embroidery and Drawnwork all along the runner. The table runner  have gentle scalloped edges. There are lovely garlands of roses, trees and beautifully decorated period clothing on the ladies. In very good strong condition, this seems unused.A wonderful item for the Appenzell collector.
