CIRCA 1900, FIGURAL APPENZELL LINEN SHEET W/PILLOWCASES.Excellent cold linen on this sheet set! Older linens always have that very cool fabric, it would certainly be very difficult to find this quality of linen today mainly due to climatic changes that have occurred . A ornate design on the set, a large floral vignette has a lady in period dress and there are floral garlands all around the edges and also along the front of the sheet. Measuring approx.105" by 90", the pillowcases measure approx.35-36" by 22". One tiny spot, otherwise in very good strong condition.Set seems unused or certainly rarely used.

CIRCA 1900,SUPERB ITALIAN BOBBIN AND NEEDLELACE  BEDSPREAD. Quite a feast for the eyes!! Not only a beautiful grand design but excellent workmanship on this very beautiful offering. Measuring approx. 110" by 78-80". A opulent large scale Baroque design with undulating florals and vines throughout and large vignettes in each corner that measure approx. 21" by 18". The large central ornate oval at the center is surrounded by beautiful floral designs and there are smaller vignettes all around the cloth with vines and florals in the design.This seems to be a bedspread but of course can be used as a cloth or hung as a panel against a bed. or even used as a canopy.One could also add add a cream or colored silk liner underneath to show off the design.This has that wonderful Baroque look and so it is certainly a eye catcher.The workmanship and the design are excellent and the panel has it's original patina and seems unused or rarely used. Fine lace and linens were always made with white threads and then colored with  a tea infusion, never dyed as the dye would eventually destroy the linen.If one does want a whiter look, then very hot water, suds, hang in the sun etc. works.

A lavish design on this item and level of workmanship is very good.There is a large central oval vignette containing large scale cherubs and large shaped ones on each corner with more cherubs. There are numerous small vignettes, beautiful scrolling Needlelace and Filet lace throughout the cloth.Fine Reticella work and raised Satin Stitch embroidery are also in the design. The amount of work is quite exceptional.Measurine approx.105" by 85-86".In good strong condition.

CIRCA 1900's, LARGE ORNATE LINEN FIGURAL SHEETW/POINT DE VENISE,SHAMS. Excellent high quality linen sheet with a very ornate turnover. The design extends almost to the end of the sheet. There is a deep border of Point de Venise and a central vignette with a lady and a cherubim at the middle and other vignettes.There is elaborate Point De Venise, Cutwork and raised Satin Stitch embroidery in the design. Measuring approx.129-130" by 68-70" wide.The pillowcase measures approx. 52" by 20". These have the elaborate designs on both edges .One rarely finds such pillowcases in a set! This is the kind of linen that is such a delight to sleep under..Cool and smooth with the added bonus of such decorative work.It is also quite rare to find  linen sheets this size. In good strong condition.

LOVELY , RARE SET OF LINEN HOLDERS WITH RIBBONS,EMBROIDERY

LOVELY, RARE SET OF LINEN HOLDERS WITH RIBBONS,EMBROIDERY. A rare set.. probably the only one I have seen in 45 years of selling lace and linens.The box has sweet cherubs and garlands on the design. There are assorted ribbon holders for pillowcases, napkins, towels , etc. Hand made designs on the front with ribbons that clasp at the back. The box has damage but is still quite a delight, the ribbons measure approx. 33" long and have the original snaps at the back. One ribbon has a tear on one side so leave as is or replace. All the others are in good strong condition . A nice item for the linen collector.
