CIRCA 1900's, RARE LARGE SILK CHENILLE,METALLIC BASKET W/LOVELY FLORALS. In 45 years I don't think I have ever seen such a large piece! The large motif is made with silk Chenille and Metallic embroidery. The design has a  wonderful ornate basket overflowing with vines and florals. All of the flowers and leaves have silk shaded embroidery. Probably made in France during the early part of 1900.Measuring approx. 34" deep by approx. 22' or more across .Once it is spread out possibly more inches will be added. This was never used and was on it's original card. We had to remove because the paper had cracked due to age, we unpicked the loose threads that attached the piece to the card. This would be wonderful.. on a gorgeous  lace or silk bedspread, framed, large continental pillow etc etc. A wonderful item for the collector. The detailed work on the basket and vines , flowers and leaves is quite superb.

Ribbons like this were used on hats and dresses and look wonderful with period clothing. Mind you, I love ribbons like this and one does not have to do much.... perhaps just "ENJOY" their beauty! Measuring 3 1/2 yards long by almost 8 1/2" wide. The design is quite extraordinary, the roses seem like Rugosa roses or perhaps Poppies. A few minor openings near edge but mainly in overall very good strong condition.This is just a delight and came from a wonderful collection of ribbons.

This has a Empire Era look to it with alternating pink silk satin on edges and a beautiful central border of Brocade flowers. CIRCA 1900's, RARE AND SUPERB WATERED SILK RIBBON QUILT WITH ROSES. Quite a amazing item! I  have never seen anything like this in all my time selling. The quality and beauty of the watered silk designs are truly wonderful. There are polychrome colors, shades of pink, blue, green, purple, yellow and all with such beautiful watered silk flowers. A amazing amount of roses and flowers, swags of flowers and wreaths throughout the bedspread.As anyone in the trade knows, this amount of watered silk ribbons in good strong condition is so very rare.This came from a important estate with provenance and actually seems unused. It must have been made and then stored away as the colors are all vibrant. The quilt measures approx.80" by almost 80"and the lining is green.In very good condition, there is one 4"by 4" stain near one edge due to storage, this can easily be replaced if desired by adding a silk ribbon.For the watered silk ribbon collector it certainly not not get any better than this.
