CIRCA 1860, EXQUISITE WHITEWORK CAPELET WITH BIRDS AND FLOWERS

CIRCA 1860, EXQUISITE WHITEWORK CAPELET W/BIRDS AND FLOWERS. This is truly one of the most beautiful pieces I have come across! In 45 years of selling I have never seen a piece similar to this beauty! The design and workmanship take the word "perfection" and make it their very own. There is satin stitch embroidery on the capelet and also the collar  has French knots, Drawnwork and Chainstitch.There are meandering vines,  floral and leaves also in the design and the  scalloped edges have buttonhole stitch on the edges.The two large birds at the front are magnificent not only in the workmanship but also in the design. There are two other birds in the design. and other florals in the cape collar. These lawn collars rarely survived well..but this was certainly cherished and kept very well .There are a few repairs near the top, mainly hidden by the collar and a few rinyscattered openings that I consider minor.The repairs were done in their time, by someone who was very adept.. lace collectors would understand that even working on lawn would take immense skill and these were done so well that at first I did not even notice them. To me, the collar is perfect!  Even the imperfections are perfect!! In good strong condition.

MAGNIFICENT 19THC.BRUSSELS POINT DE GAZE LACE SHAWL.One of the most beautiful Point De Gaze shawls I have come across. The design and workmanship on this shawl is truly exquisite.Measuring approx. 102" by 21-22", Centimeters are 259.08 cm by almost 55.88 cm. The shawl is entirely covered with lace, there are beautiful large three-dimensional roses throughout the designs with scrollwork, meandering vines, floral and leaves and scattered Point De Esprit throughout the lace.There are over 36 large roses and numerous other roses and flowers in the design.This is part of my private lace collection.

CIRCA 19THC. EXQUISITE BRUSSELS POINT DE GAZE LACE SHAWL. A magnificent Brussels Point De Gaze shawl measuring approx.106" by almost 23". Centimeters are 269.24cm by 58.42cm.The design is ornate ad very beautiful and the lacework is a work of art! There rae masses of roses with three dimensional petals ,numerous other roses and florals and intricate shaped vignettes  filled with fine needlelace fillings.Throughout the shawl there are meandering florals, vines and leaves with tiny scattered Point De Esprit throughout the lace. A superb piece for the serious lace collector. In very good condition, the lace has it's original cream patina. Part of a private lace collection.

CIRCA 19THC. OPULENT HAND MADE BRUGE LACE SHAWL W/BOWS,IRIS,FLOWERS. A rare handmade  Bruge large cape shawl made with a ornate bold design of bows, and flowers.There are large vignettes filled with Iris flowers and meandering vines throughout the shawl with other flowers.I have not seen a piece like this before and so it certainly is a rare piece probably specially made for a client during the 19THC. This could be used a a cape or could be used as a veil or possibly made into a dress without cutting it of course. The cape is in very good strong condition, it seems as if it was rarely used.

CIRCA 1880-1900,LOVELY HAND MADE BOBBIN LACE TABLE RUNNER /PLACEMATS.A handmade long lace table runner with six matching placemats. the table runner measures approx. 96" by 17" wide. The placemats measure approx.14 1/2" by 9 1/2". There are six now, but it is possible we find more.I make no promises but the lot was large so if we do find more we will let the buyer know by email and send them on. For now, one beautiful runner and the six placemats.In very good condition, seem almost unused.
