MAGNIFICENT APPENZELL SHEET W/CHERUBS,CROWN. A spectacular linen sheet measuring apprx.124" by 94"wide. The turnover on this sheet measures apprx. 42" and is gorgeous , with central large vignette of ladies ,beautifully attired in classical dress with garlands of flowers and larger flower swag that surrounds the vignette. The fluid rococo inspired design has large meandering ornamental vines ,florals and elaborate scrollwork in the sheet with smaller vignettes filled with mosaic work and oval flower garland. On each edge of the sheet there is a shaped oval vignette with mosaic work and playful cherubs,this design also is surrounded by the floral garlands.In very good strong condition, a couple of minor openings near embroidery,minor. The sheet seems used.There is a embroidered crown, the sheet belonged to a member of the nobility.A GRAND and MAGNIFICENT sheet,one of the very best I have come across. A wonderful item for the Appenzell collector or museum.(Item #ALB28)
