CIRCA 1690- 1700, INTRICATE POINT DE NEIGE LACE BORDER. A wonderful early lace border from Venice with such incredible detailed intricate workmanship.I am sorry I did not press this because I think that would have shown more of the wonderful workmanship, especially on the edges. The design is so elaborate... there are tiny starlike florals with buttonhole loops and raised three dimensional picots in the lace and meandering vines throughout the lace. This type of lace never photographs as well for me for some reason...perhaps my camera is just not good enough. I sometimes think I see little figures but then again feel like I am imagining this!! Suffice to say this is a delightful piece but I must admit I have no idea how a lacemaker could have created such tiny lacework.Measuring approx.211/2" by 2 1/4" wide. In good strong condition.
