CIRCA 1760, ENGLISH SPITALFIELD SILK PANELS. Two joined panels  of Spitalfield silk measuring approx. 82.25 by 20.75 inches, 208.915 cm by 52.705 cm.A luminous cream ribbed silk ground with sub-patterning and large floral sprays in purple, blue and green, warp-faced plain weave ground lampas with discontinuous supplemental patterning wefts (brocade) .The panels are mainly in good condition but there are some skillfully embroidered repairs that were done, a couple of spots near one edge and a few small splits in fabric. Overall good strong condition, the panels are very beautiful. A lovely item for the Spitalfield collector.
