CIRCA 1500's-1600's, RARE LINEN CUTWORK INSERTION LACE BORDER.A wonderful piece! Circa early late 1500's-early 1600's, a very fine Italian linen cutwork border measuring 42" by 4" wide. There is also a van dyke scalloped edging, part ifs attached and the other needs to be attached. It is quite remarkable how this lace has survived in such good condition. The linen flax threads are extremely cool to the touch, a sign some say of the early linen flax. In good strong condition, the lace has it's original cream patina.
