CIRCA 17THC/ EXQUISITE AND RARE POINT DE FRANCE LACE FLOUNCE. A magnificent flounce of Point de France. The lace has a superb design and of course has the finest workmanship. This lace came from a superb collection of laces and linens that were part of a long held New York estate. Point De France Needlepoint lace began during the period 1665 and was made until the beginning of the 18THC.This lace came under Royal patronage and Colbert, the King's minister was in charge of introducing this lace so that French people would be encouraged to buy this lace as opposed to buying foreign lace. Measuring apprx. 120" or 4.72 yards by 22" wide. Measurement in centimeters  is 431.8 cm by 55.88cm . This lace has been preserved in near mint condition, perhaps a few minor openings but mainly very good strong condition. A beautiful lace flounce for the discerning collector or for museum.Item#AL628
