CIRCA 1820's, WHITEWORK EMPIRE GOWN. A early 1800's christening or baby's gown with a high empire bodice. The bodice ,sleeves and wings have whitework embroidery with fine shirred work also on the bodice. This gown was part of a important collection that was recently deaccessioned. There is a label attached which mentions the date  it was purchased and other information. It was bought at Phillips Auction is 1999.In mainly good condition, there is a seam added at the opening at the back of the gown and one small opening in gown that will need to be mended. A rare early gown for the collector.(Item #ACC66)
