CIRCA 16TH-17THC. LACE W /DOUBLE HEADED EAGLE

CIRCA 16-17THC. LACE W/DOUBLE HEADED EAGLE. A rare early lace! This was once attached to a larger piece. The design has the double headed eagle and also figures in the lace. This design first appeared in the Bronze age and has been used by numerous  empires, The Byzantine,Muslim world, India, Russia etc..Even today it can be found in many heraldic shields. It is considered the "King of Birds" and signifies power and dominion. The history of this design is well worth looking up! It is rare find a piece like this.I think many museums and The Met in New York have similar pieces. Measuring approx.26" by 12". This as said was cut from a larger piece.A wonderful lace for the early collector. In good strong condition.
