CIRCA 19THC. RARE POINT DE PARIS REFECTORY TABLE RUNNER W/HARVEST THEME. A wonderful and rare hand made Point De Paris long refectory table runner with  numerous figural vignettes throughout the runner.  French and Italian laces often celebrated the Spring and Harvest seasons and they appear in antique linen at this time. The wheat sheaf symbolizes prosperity, abundance, immortality and is used often to celebrate resurrection.On each end there are large wheat sheaves and also some are in between the scenes. The design has  figurals with baskets of fruits and produce, men adding hay to wagons, people planting seeds, a  young boy with his dog carrying a basket in front of a windmill, and a  farmer ploughing the ground with his horse. There are five large scenes measuring approx. 14".  The table runner measures approx. 120" by 11 1/2".  The lace has the six pointed star ground and is very well done.It took a large amount of bobbins ot create this ite..In good strong condition, the lace has it's original cream patina. The item was laundered. A wonderful rare item for the lace collector.
