CIRCA 1600's-1700 RARE EARLY ITALIAN LACE BORDER

CIRCA 1600's-1700, RARE EARLY ITALIAN LACE BORDER. This lace came from a very good deaccession.the label says "Italian" and also "Louis The X1V". This was the reign of the  King of France, "Louis The Great "who was also called the "Sun King" and built the Palace of Versailles. This quite a rare piece has been almost impossible to find a similar example in many of the lace books. The design is quite grand , with what seems like pomegranites, bold flowers and undulating vines. The various fillings are extremely fine.. The ground itself is quite a work of art! The lace itself is in good strong condition but is not perfect, it has never been washed and so would benefit from a gentle wash. There are few small darns, some scattered small  openings but overall good and in strong condition. Measuring approx. almost 26" by 6 1/4" with gentle scalloped edge. The lace is certainly exceptional and rare.
