CIRCA 17THC. FINE FLEMISH LACE BORDER

CIRCA 17THC. FINE FLEMISH LACE BORDER. Circa 1670's, a Flemish lace border measuring approx.11" by 3" wide. The lace has a straight border with Point de Paris or Kat stitch ground.A great border for the early lace collector. In mainly good strong condition. The lace is of course very light in the hand, photographs can never fully capture the true beauty of these fine early laces.Early bobbin laces were usually made with the very finest linen flax thread and due to climatic changes over the centuries linen flax became coarser. This thread is of course superb.
