CIRCA 17THC.,EARLY ALTAR FRONTAL W/SANTOS,RELIGIOUS FIGURAL PANEL.  This panel measures apprx. 124 inches by 29" wide. The center of the panel has a image of the holy Mary with baby Jesus and the word "Santos" under the design.There are architectural elements and masses of birds, the Phoenix and other figural images throughout the lace,large oak?leaves ,candelabra's,images of Jesus carrying the cross and in all, apprx. 46 or more figurals and birds in the panel.It was attached to a piece of linen at the top at one point in time. There are other symbols like keys,hearts etc in the design. and assorted crosses and words at the bottom of the panel which is scalloped and has fringes. In good condition, a few spots on small narrow linen at top,minor. this item came for a very important early lace collection. (Item #AL640)
