CIRCA 19THC. FINE AYRSHIRE CHRISTENING GOWN

CIRCA 1830's,FINE AYRSHIRE CHRISTENING GOWN. A lovely early gown with elaborate Ayrshire embroidery on the bodice and sleeves and on one wing and all around the edge of gown. The sleeves are puffed as in the early style of the 1800's. Measuring apprx. 44" down from shoulder to hem,apprx.8 1/4" across chest. The linen is of the highest quality and the embroidery is very good workmanship. The gown is in overall very good strong condition..there are a few holes on either side.. my thoughts on this dress is that it could be shortened and add part of the wing to other side .It would make a lovely dress.. or remove wing and seam gown on both sides.Well worth doing as once corrected it can be used for baby or doll.(Item #ACC207)
