SUPERB,19THC.TABLECLOTHW/CHERUBS,LADIES,ANIMALS,BIRDSW/PROVENANCE.A wonderful 180" lace tablecloth that is purported to have come from the Vanderbilt family.Superb and with a  lavish design, the tablecloth measures apprx 180" by 80" wide. A central fine Milanese center and matching lace around the cloth has numerous animals and birds ..peacocks, squirrels, birds, hare, dogs.On each end part of the cloth there is a large oval vignette measuring apprx. 28" by 16", with frolicking cherubs, a goat and meandering boughs of poppy branches,with birds nestled among the branches. There are two oval vignettes measuring apprx 20" with designs of a lady in classical dress reclining on the lawn with swags of flowers, playing with her dog.Ornate lace floral designs throughout the rest of the tablecloth and edged with fine scalloped edges.There are oval vignettes on edge of cloth filled with urns overflowing with flowers and leaves and birds on either side. One each end of the cloth there are round vignettes filled with ladies and their dogs in a pastoral scene.In very good strong condition, this cloth has been stored away for many years, a few scattered age related spots,one small openings. Cloth needs to be laundered.The cloth has come from a member of the family. RARE ,with excellent design and workmanship. (Item #ALT78)
