EXQUISITE APPENZELL GRAND TOUR HANDKERCHIEF "ST.PAUL'S CATHEDRAL". It is always wonderful to find these rare Grand Tour handkerchiefs! Elegant and rich patrons usually collected these as they visited different historical sites and countries. In my time of selling very few of these have surfaced and so it is a pleasure to be able to offer such a handkerchief. The Appenzell embroidery is of course quite excellent, with ST. Paul's Cathedral surrounded by a garland of very beautiful flowers,vines and leaves. The Royal Coat of Arms if the official coat of arms of the United Kingdom and the British monarch.A unicorn and lion in the heraldic crest, a orb and crown and a banner with the motto "Dieu Et Mon Droit" (God and my right) the motto of the British Monarchs. The elaborate initials are "M B". Truly EXQUISITE! Measuring apprx. 15-16".In very good condition, a couple of flaws in the fine lawn, absolutely minor.
