CIRCA 19THC.ORNATE CHRISTENING GOWN W/PROVENANCE.A wonderful lawn gown with layers of Valencienne lace and whitework and three dimensional florets throughout the gown. Lavish in design, the bodice is ornate with further elaborate work on the sleeves and entirely down the front part of the skirt. The gown belonged to the Frothingham family who lived in Massachusetts.The Frothingham family are descendants of William Frothingham who was one of seven hundred people of the Winthrop Fleet who left the Isle of Wight  in 1630,possibly aboard the Mayflower,The Whale or The Trial and arrived in Charlston, Mass.A beautiful ornate gown that comes with a bonnet.
