LUMINOUS LADIES SPITAFIELDS BROCADE SILK GOWN. Circa 1742-45, A luminous  Spitafields brocade silk on this beautiful gown,the Spitafields silk itself dates from 1742-45 and it is possible it was designed by the famous 18THC. designer Anna Maria Garthwaite.The Rococo silk has wonderful  glowing polychrome silk flowering branches throughout the design. During the period of the early 1800's, it became quite fashionable to revive the the early gowns from the 1600's, garments were altered to adapt to the the modern silhouette of the time.  Those who were fortunate enough to have inherited silk gowns from their family archives used the earlier gowns, others bought silks similar to the designs that were popular during the 1600-1700's.The gown was repurposed during the 1840's,the bodice was pieced to create an off the shoulder neckline, shorter sleeves and a fitted torso, while the skirt itself has uncut lengths of fabric used in the original gown. The Victoria and Albert museum has a collection of designs that Anna Maria Garthwaite created during the period 1742-1745.

CIRCA 18THC. LUMINOUS FRENCH SILK BROCADE PANELS #1 . There is one other similar panel, these were probably part of a gown from the 18THC. The design has three joined panel of brocade silk with serpentine leafy branches in two shades of green.There are stylized flowers, roses, carnations and lilacs in polychrome silks, there are shades of red, pink, blue, burgundy and white self- figured ivory cannele ground with leafy sprigs and wave like bands. Each panel's width is 21". Of course one can divide or if the two panels are bought , then perhaps a gown can be created.. One piece measures 53" by 61"(134.62 by 154.9cm. The other panel measures approx.52" by 60"(132.08 by 152.4cm.

CIRCA 18THC.SILK POCKETBOOK W/GOLD METALLIC THREAD AND SPANGLES. A wonderful 18YHC. silk satin folding pocketbook embellished with spangles in pink,blue and green foil. There is also gold thread embroidery decoration on the pocketbook. There are four interior pockets with shaped flaps.Measuring 6 1/4 by 3 3/4".In mainly very good strong condition, there are some loose binding threads around the edge that perhaps can be reattached. (Item #EI52)

CIRCA 1700-1800,FINE MUSLIN WHITEWORK EMBROIDERED SKIRT PANEL. A lovely flowing diaphanous muslin skirt panel with scattered embroidered decorations.Measuring apprx.8" across front panel and 15" across the back with two ties,apprx. 40" long and 84-85" around the bottom of the panel. This might have been part of a dress at some point or it was made as a apron or skirt covering. There is one light stain,one small opening,one 2" line repair at the bottom of the back panel and also on the bottom of panel a 3" repair, done so well that I did not see it at first.The skirt itself is in very good strong condition. CIRCA 18THC EXCEPTIONAL LADIES LINEN BONED CORSET/STAYS. A superb ladies linen boned corset .This item came from a long time collector's deaccession in New England and is quite amazing in every respect.The contrast between the cream thread, ribbons and darker fabric are very effective. Measuring apprx. 24"inner waist measurement,11 inches down the front where the ribbons are. The ribbons might be original,I am not sure but they seem to be.The corset is in quite amazing condition,there is some slight wear and some age related stains on inner lining but overall so very minor.The shoulder straps are missing their lacings or ribbons and the lacings at the back are missing too.A wonderful item for serious collector or museum.
