CIRCA 1860's, ORNATE BRUSSELS POINT DE GAZE LACE. This lace matches the long flounce we have listed. I believe this was made up for the edge of a wedding veil, so there is net at the top and two flounces of Brussels Point De Gaze lace sewn on to the bottom of the net. The important part is the Brussels lace which is very ornate ,almost entirely covering the lace with florals ,foliate, needle lace fillings and scattered Point De Esprit. Measuring across the top from edge to edge it is apprx. 60 inches, measuring down the middle apprx. 49-50 inches. The Brussels lace at the botom measures apprx. 125 inches and is 10 inches wide. So basically this item can be finished at the top and used as a veil or one can untack the edgings and use. There is a quantity of lace here. The net itself is a silk net and so very nice in itself. The lace is in very good strong condition, a few scattered spots and small openings.MINOR.The lace has it's original cream patina and probably was never washed.A beautiful lace and lots of it.We will try to get a whole photograph up if we can or we can send to you. In very good strong condition.(Item#AL643)
